The following accomplishments highlight Abraham Lincoln’s performance in CY 2016:

“Sailors aboard aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) completed no-load testing on catapult one on 28 January 2016, marking another milestone in the ship's RCOH. Capt. Ron L. Ravelo, Lincoln's commanding officer, was the first "shooter" to give the signal to launch for the first time in more than three years. "No-loads are conducted every single day by operational carriers in order to warm up the catapult in anticipation of launching aircraft," Ravelo said. "I look forward to when we are once again operational and firing no-loads in advance of actual flight operations." Sailors assigned to Abraham Lincoln began the ship's first phase of the crew move aboard (CMA) process on 26 February 2016. CMA marks a major step for the crew as they bring the ship one step closer to completing its Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) and returning to the fleet. The RCOH started in early 2013 – six weeks late – amidst an intense debate on funding restrictions as the result of sequestration restrictions from the Budget Control Act of 2011. As reported on 7 March 2016, “Sailors assigned to Abraham Lincoln use the Navy's 2M (Micro/Miniature) Repair and Gold Disk program to save the Navy a significant amount of money. The Navy developed the Gold Disk Program to save money and time by reducing costs and turnaround time for repairs. "Using the Gold Disk program instead of sending circuit cards out to be replaced, this past fiscal year we have saved roughly $241,000.00" said Electronics Technician 3rd Class Anton Vasylyuk, assigned to Lincoln's 2M Electronics Division. "It's also saved a lot of time, which is imperative when we're looking at so many deadlines in refueling complex overhaul." A gold disk is a computer compact disk that has trouble shooting routines for thousands of circuit cards the Navy uses for many different electronic components, for example, radars, aircraft parts, Close-in Weapons System (CIWS) or other weapons firing systems. Gold Disc streamlines the process of troubleshooting problems we may have with circuit cards," said Chief Electronics Technician Brian Achilles. "Instead of waiting months at a time for one to come back from repair, our Sailors work on them themselves, testing the signatures of each card to make sure they are in working order"” (Ref.
